Calderdale College – Inspire Centre | Development Type: New Build | Value: £8 million

The Inspire Centre is part of an £8m redevelopment which includes a new entrance to the main site, a new cafeteria, partial refurbishment and redecoration throughout. These include a sports hall, dance studio, hi tech learning resource centre, fitness suite, seven classrooms, science labs and an all-weather pitch to support students studying Sports and Public Services, Dance, Science, Animal Care & Management and Horticulture.

Mike Hollis and Dave Braybrook were the lead Engineers for the duration of the project responsible for the superstructure, substructure, drainage and infrastructure.

Roof Structure contains ducts for renewable / solar power energy.

The development constructed in accordance with Sport England / NGB Technical Design Guidance Notes to include Access for the Disabled, Fitness and Exercise Spaces, Floors for indoor Halls, Sports Hall Sizes and Layouts, Comparative Sizes of Pitches and Courts unless otherwise agreed with the LPA in consultation with Sport England.

Fitness and Dance Studio

Steel framed Changing, Fitness & Dance Studio areas with ancillary plant & circulation space with insulated single ply membrane roofs & cavity wall & curtain walling to elevations, revolving entrance door with feature entrance fin & canopy; finishes comprise generally vinyl flooring with ceramic tiles to the atrium & specialist finishes to the dance studio & sports hall. The position of fixed and portable equipment including floor sockets was integrated into the dance studio floor.
